Paris styles and beyond

This past week I spent five days in Paris, France. I’m not sure even where to begin. These photos are just a glimpse of what I saw overseas. The artwork was straight from the history books but as clean and elegant in real life. I basically spent each day walking the entire city. From the very first day I arrived to the last when I departed I never used any public transportation to move about the city. I wanted to discover everything I could about Paris with the little time I had. Paris is not as big as most U.S. cities but it was still worth while. In addition to taking pictures I only allowed myself photography for the first tens minutes at a location, the rest of the time I spent sketching and drawing in my book. I also recorded my thoughts as I walked throughout the city but lost my iphone the night I returned, so all those voice memos are gone. Which sucks because I wanted them to go with the video I shot. Now when I look at the video it doesn’t feel as powerful without the narrations I planned. I may still post the vids but as of now its in limbo. Basically I love Paris. It is a beautiful city with style and culture that I will visit again. However, I stayed at a hostel and that is something I strongly do not recommend. Man I have a few stories but I will save those for another time. Stick to hotels, motels and holiday inns. When I was planning this trip I had to goals in mind, to try absinthe and to purchase a sketchbook. Not just any sketchbook, something that looked fresh out of lord of the rings. A book that Da Vinci would be jealous of. And I did find such a book. The problem now is what to put into it. Enjoy these pics and keep a look out for the next post containing sketches from the trip.

Latest Work…Dread (revised)

As an artist one of the hardest things I face is keeping my skills sharp. One day I might think I am getting use to a style or technique and then a few weeks later or a month later I discover a whole new way to create the same image but only what i feel is better. So this is the main reason I’m always recreating artwork that was already on the site. It’s not that I don’t have new work but I only want to show certain images and now all or everything in my collection. Take a look.

Work in progress

It’s no secret that I am a fan of food and particularly a fan of nachos. So when I was asked to created some art for Nachos NY I jumped at it. With this piece I was looking to take my digital painting skills to another level so I started with a simple drawing but then decided just to delete the outline and paint freehand. Like I said this is a work in progress so stay tuned for the final product. peace-

The Artist Process

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of participating in the second part of The Artist Process. A little ago I took part in the video documentary portion, which was amazing as well. So on Sunday the majority of Artist involved got together at 5 Pointz in Long Island City, Queens. The Person responsible for this entire project is M2 a.k.a. Marthalicia of M-Squared Art Productions. Anybody who knows this lady knows the talent she holds. Truly inspiring. It was a great day to be out painting amongst some of NY most talented individuals. Many thanks to Flor Mancha for grabbing the camera and documenting while I painted!

After the Bonfire..

So this past Tuesday I attended the Monthly Bonfire at the Bowery Poetry club along side fellow artist Marthalicia. It was pretty good. We happen to bang out some creative work. I wasn’t sure of what to expect but once the show started the vibe was great and there was tons of love from the audience. To paint live in front of a crowd is a lot of pressure, maybe not for you but for me I look to do my best at all I do. It was like being on stage but I was on the side. In the end the people loved the work. I have a few live painting events coming up next month that I’m looking forward to. And of course video and photos will be posted. If by chance you happen to take some photos or video let em know.

“Being plastered all over the cover of entertainment magazines generally has no bearing on whether or not the artists pictured, actually live up to what the articles inside them mention…”

Bondfire: Mic’s Open Show 10:30 -11:30pm

Think MTV Unplugged, Def Poetry/Comedy Jam & SNL. Then stop, thinking that. During Bondfire: Mic’s Open Show, open mic participants are guest of the host, ‘The Bronx Über Villain’. Like medieval times where kings were entertained by the likes of jesters and musicians, performers do the same for the audience as well as , ‘The Bronx Über Villain’. Each performance concludes with a mostly humorous comment from the host. The official show once edited for television and dvd will have a mix of the most outstanding open mic performances and out takes, live performances from the Bondfire: Concert Series, video interviews with various artists, comedy sketches and special ‘The Bronx Über Villain’ commentary.

Bondfire: Concert Series 11:30pm-until

People aren’t too enthused these days with live shows. They never seem to start on time. Artists either cancel or show up and aren’t that impressive when they do. New York is a great city that has a reputation for being the starting point, and place of discovery of some of the greatest musicians to ever do it. Bondfire: Concert Series is about regaining the confidence of music lovers and creating lasting memories. Simply having a wonderful time. We’re saying, ‘No To Mediocrity!’.

Latest works. I need to get a better digital camera, these photos do no justice. I added something different this time around. I normally go in a just do a gradient on the background or a pattern design. This time I worked with some layering and different textures. I wanted to create a gritty grimey look with a sexy chick on top. The faces aren’t shown because mixed into the textures was some numbers for massage parlors and call girls. In that line of work faces aren’t important just the work there going to do. I might go back in and add some more details for the background. Let me know what you think. I’m already working on the next set of paintings.

Team one reigns supreme

dsc00081
Here’s the latest flick from another night with the study group. The difference between this and the last piece was we had only one hour to get busy AND on top of that the canvas was not new, it was covered with stuff and a gargantuan black splat thing in the middle of the canvas. After all was done with the time allowed what was created was another banging collaboration. Not much video was recorded this time but I’ll post what I have either tonight or tomorrow night.

Web Comic Updates

Back to working on web comic. A new page will be posted on Sunday. Much has happened this year, some things where more serious than others but I’m back on track and focused on finishing the story. I only intended to have six chapters and I want to complete all six chapters. Some times being an artist is tough only because you become your worst critic. With that being said the comic will continue to run on a weekly basis until all of the story is told. There’s going to be something for everyone, love, death/murder and drugs and maybe even a fight or two. And leave comments. Let me know what you think. That’s all for now. peace-

Drawing at work

Lately been working on some generics illustrations for work. This is one of those illustrations. I won’t post them all but this happens to be my favorite this week, so far.

Ganesh Wall Painting

Eyes on the Prize

It’s been a while since my last posting and yes I’m still working on the giant ganesh which will be posted this week. I’m off enjoying a four day weekend so it’s perfect time to wrap up several projects. This past Tuesday I had the privilege of painting with some of New York’s finest. At first I only showed up to get some information about the upcoming Art Battles abut once I arrived I was told I was going to be painting. I’m not one to pass up an opportunity so I jumped right in. Take a look at the pics I’m the one on the far left side, that looks sort of like a robot. The idea came from a picture in a magazine that reminded me of Pinochio. And one more thing, we where painting on unprimed canvas with only black and white to use.

In all the wrong places

picture-1Here’s my latest project. It’s not quite a mural but big enough to cover a portion of my wall and be able to take with me to my new apt once I move. It’s halfway completed. For the first time in a while I’m actually taking time to paint details and not to rush the process. This piece has been in development for the last two days and I’m not expecting to finish until Tuesday the latest. I’m recording the entire process so that’s something else that’s motivating me to keep going. So far so good. Check back soon and look out for the video.

Letters to the Master

Dreaded Victory

Recently I found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands. A lot of extra time. So I’ve been cranking out some art late at night when everybody is sleeping I’m still working. There’s much more new pieces coming out this week. Still not sure what I’m gonna do with t he final products but in the meantime it’s keeping me busy and my mind focused. One more thing, you might have noticed the layout of the site has changed. I switched my entire site over to word press. I still use dreamweaver to assist with the coding but for the most part word press makes updating and provides and crisp and clean look. Well atleast for now, until I move on to the next thing in web development. peace-

Latest work-The perfect blend..

Messing around in photoshop. Lately I’ve been painting with out lines. Not inking my work, just painting from a sketch. So little by little I will develop a style that doesn’t include inking.
